Chinese herbs focus on correcting dysfunction of certain organs and unhealthy body patterns. Chinese herbs enhance the body’s recuperative power, immunity, and state of well-being by strengthening weakness, cleansing toxins, harmonizing imbalance and removing blockages. The goal of herbal therapy is to bring the body back into a state of balance and restore proper energy. Patients with many different symptoms can be treated with herbs, including frequent colds or the flu, fatigue, anxiety or depression, trouble breathing, infertility, allergies, chronic pain, trouble sleeping, menopausal symptoms, and even people recovering from cancer or chemotherapy.

Chinese herbs should be taken under supervision and not used by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Customized Chinese herbal formulas are prescribed following an exam with the practitioner. Sometimes herbs are used as a complement to another treatment, such as acupuncture. With fewer side effects than conventional drugs and easy assimilation, Chinese herbs are safe, effective, and gently nurturing, available in pills, tablets, capsules, granules, or decoctions for oral intake, and tinctures and patches for external use. Here at Rapha Acupuncture in Newport Beach, we use classic Chinese herbal formulas and customized herbal products from GMP certified manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Korea and Taiwan.
